Michele Walton is a freelance musicians in the DC area where she is working on her DMA in Orchestral Instruments in Flute at Catholic University of America where she studies with Alice Weinreb.
As a musician, Michele has experience in both chamber, orchestra, and band ensembles. Currently she performs with the Catholic University Orchestra. She has served as principal flutist and section leader of the Houghton College Philharmonia and has performed with the Houghton College Symphonic Winds. She also has experience as a pit musician and has played in a number of operas and musicals including Puccini’s Gianni Schicci and Donizetti’s L’Elisir d’Amore.
As an orchestral player, her repertoire includes everything from Beethoven’s Leonore Overture No. 3 to Prokofiev’s Classical Symphony and Ravel’s Daphnis et Chloe, Suite No. 2. As a soloist her repertoire includes everything from the Bach flute sonatas to Jennifer Higdon’s Rapid Fire.
Michele holds a Master of Music degree from The Greatbatch School of Music Houghton College where she studied with Rebecca Gilbert and Dr. Angela McBrearty. She has also studied flute with Dr. Sophia Gibbs Kim, Christine Bailey Davis, and Dr. Angela McBrearty. She has also studied piccolo with Dr. Angela McBrearty and piano with Virginia Halberg.
