Violinist Jian Song is a native of China where he received his Bachelor Degree, he also has earned his Master Degree in Violin Performance with the full scholarship from Shenandoah University and he is pursuing a Doctor Degree at The Catholic University of America in this Fall semester.
As an orchestra musician Jian has performed publicly in Avanti Symphony Orchestra, Roanoke Symphony Orchestra, Williamsburg Symphony Orchestra, Beijing Symphony Orchestra, National Centre for Performing Arts Symphony Orchestra. Also, he is the concertmaster of the Shenandoah Symphony. As a member of St. Charles String Quartet, he had a lot of chamber performances experience. Texas Summer Music Festival had offered him full scholarship and he also was a teaching assistant in Xi’an International Music Festival. He won the 2nd Price of Singapore Music and Dance International Competition.
He has a rich musical pedigree, having studied under Sumin Jiang, Takayama Akemi, Doris Lederer, Clyde Shaw, Joseph G Gatwood. Jian likes teaching and he can find different ways to teach different students, strict but humorous is his style. Just like he said to students ‘ I am teaching you, but you are teaching me and yourself too’
